Technology Ensuring Quality

The Superior Hardwoods manufacturing facility, located in West Central Indiana, is vertically aligned to control lumber quality from timber procurement to lumber delivery. The new Superior Hardwoods sawmill has an optimized 55-bay sorter and tally system that sorts each board with advanced laser precision for width, length, thickness, and grade. This modern facility serves to even further enhance the precision sawmill model that every forward thinking sawmill tries to attain. With this technology, we will be able to offer a product of the highest standards.

To accommodate the additional output afforded to us with this new expansion, three additional kilns have been added bringing our total kiln capacity to just over 600MBF. This added kiln capacity addresses the requirements needed for multi-species/multi-dimension products which are capable of being isolated to an independent charge and dried to the exact specifications for each individual specie and dimension.

We also employ two independent lines that are unique for each order that comes out of the kilns. One line has the ability to sort and straight line rip to the requirements of our customers, while the other has the ability to surface lumber. Dual lines ensure that we can provide flexibility in our order taking. These services are what keep us on the leading edge in the hardwood lumber industry and will help cement that position for the future.

With quality carefully managed from standing timber to kiln-dried lumber, there is no question that this yard lives up to its name.
